Barbara J. Wilson named Iowa’s 22nd president
Barbara J. Wilson, executive vice president and vice president for academic affairs for the University of Illinois System, will become the 22nd president of the University of Iowa on July 15. The Board of Regents, State of Iowa, announced Wilson as its unanimous selection at its meeting in Iowa City on Friday, April 30.

The University of Iowa presidential search committee will begin interviews with semifinalist candidates today and, on Saturday, will choose a final group of up to four people who will visit campus later this month.

President Harreld announces plan for retirement

University of Iowa President Bruce Harreld has asked the Board of Regents, State of Iowa, to begin a search for the UI’s next president. Harreld, whose contract runs through June 2023, has informed the board of his desire to retire as soon as a successor can be appointed.
